COOK, OCTAVIOUS A. - Came to Texas in December, 1835, as is shown in Headright Certificate No, 174 issued to him for one-third of a league of land by the Board of Land Commissioners for Mialm County, February 3, 1838.

He was a member of Captain Peyton R. Splane’s Company and on December 3, 1838 he was issued Donation Certificate No. 646 for having been left at the camp opposite Harrisburg, April 21, 1836, wounded. He received Bounty Certificate No. 1675 for having served in the army from February 23, to September 23, 1836. He was a member of Captain Thomas Stewarts’ Company of Matogroda Volunteers, July 15, 1836. He was living in Matogroda County December 23, 1838 when he sold Bounty Certificate No. 1675 to Thomas and Elijah Decrow.
On January 6, 1882 Mrs. Henry Holly, only daughter of Octavious A. Cook was living in Ft. Bend County. His other heirs were Mrs. T. A. Cook of Harris County, Mary Jane Cook and W. L. Cook of Lake County, California, George R. Cook and Mrs. S. N. Gray of California.
