CARUTHERS, YOUNG - In Service Record No. 246 it is certified that he served in Captain G. Cooke’s Company from February 27 to September 25, 1836. The Service Record was signed at Columbia, December 6, 1836. It was stated that at that time Mr. Caruthers was dead and that Wilson McFarland was administrator of his estate. Donation Certificate No. 958 for 640 acres of land was issued in the name of Mr. Caruthers, November 25, 1839, due him for having been detailed to guard the baggage at the camp opposite Harrisburg April 21, 1836. The certificate No.9624 for 640 acres of land was issued in Mr. Caruthers’s name November 5, 1840, due him for his services in the army from February 27 to September 5, 1836.
