BROWN, ALEXANDER - Came to Texas in 1831, as is shown in Headright Certificate No. 93 for one labor of land issued to him January 25, 1838 by the Board of Land Commissioners for Austin County. He is shown on page 41 of the army rolls in the General Land Office as one of the members of Company E, Captain Gibson Kuykendall, who was detailed to guard the baggage at the camp opposite Harrisburg, April 21, 1836. He was issued Bounty Certificate No. 4338 for 320 acres of land, September 26, 1838 for having served in the army from March 1 to May 30, 1836. He re-enlisted October 15, 1836 for the duration of the war as Second Corporal in Captain Lettlewood W. Peeble’s Company.

Mr. Brown died at his residence six miles above La Grange, Fayette County, August 19, 1844.
