BOYCE, JEPTHA - Came to Texas in 1833, as is stated in an unnumbered headright certificate issued to him in 1838 by the Board of Land Commissioners of Bastrop County. He was issued Bounty Certificate No. 3198 for 320 acres of land, May 5, 1838 for having served in the army from March 1 to June 1, 1836. The land was surveyed in Bastrop County in 1839. He was probably a member of Captain Jesse Billingsley’s Company. He was issued Donation Certificate No. 1211 for 640 acres of land, May 21, 1838 for having been detailed to guard the baggage at the camp opposite Harrisburg, April 21, 1836.

Mr. Boyce died in Bastrop County in 1845. His widow Mrs. Mahala Boyce was appointed administratrex of his estate August 25, 1845.
