BOSTICK, JAMES H. - In the Headright Certificate No. 109 issued to him January 6, 1838 for one labor of land by the Austin County Board of Land Commissioners it is stated that he came to Texas in 1831. His name appears on the official army rolls in the General Land Office as a member of Captain Gibson Kuykendall’s Company and as having been left at the Harrisburg Camp. He was issued Donation Certificate No. 114 for 640 acres of land July 25, 1838 for having been detailed to guard the camp opposite Harrisburg, April 21, 1836.

Mr. Bostick re-enlisted May 7, 1837 in Captain Thomas Pratt’s Company and was transferred to Captain John Chenoweth’s Company July 18th. He re-enlisted October 27, 1837 for the duration of the war in Company A. Lieutenant Colonel Juan N. Seguin’s regiment.
Mr. Bostick died November 1, 1839 in Austin County, leaving a widow, Mrs. Susan Bostick and three children Maria, Austin, and Mary Bostick. Emelick Swearingen and Mrs. Susan Bostick were appointed administrators of his estate November 29, 1839. I. H. Catlin of Travis County was appointed administrator of his estate, June 10, 1850.
Miss Alice Lee, 108 North Fourth Street, Temple is a descendant of Mr. And Mrs. James H. Bostick.
