WOOLSEY, ABNEY W.--On page 9, Book B of the list of applicants for land in Austin's colonies, in the General Land Office, Austin, it is shown that when on February 23 Mr. Woolsey applied, he stated that he was 21 years of age and had arrived in Texas from Alabama March 1, 1835. On October 29, 1835 he received title to one-fourth of a league in Austin's Fifth Colony situated in the present county of Fayette. In Headright Certificate No. 93 issued to him in 1838 for one-twelfth of a league of land by the Board of Land Commissioners for Colorado County it is stated that he came to Texas before May 2, 1835.

Mr. Woolsey was a member of Captain Moseley Baker's SAN FELIPE COMPANY at San Jacinto and on September 14, 1843, was issued Donation Certificate No. 507 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the battle. On January 17, 1838, he received Bounty Certificate No. 1903 for 320 acres of land for having served in the army from February 29, to May 30, 1836.
The marriage records of Fayette County show that Mr. Woolsey was married to Vergelly V. Gilbert in Fayette County September 1, 1839. The Deed Records of Wharton County show Mr. and Mrs. Woolsey living in Colorado County July 3, 1845. If they died in Colorado County their estates were not probated there.
