Mr. Wilcox's name is not on the official San Jacinto rolls printed in 1836. He was a member of Captain William H. Patton's S Company before and after the battle of San Jacinto.

Colonel Jesse Benton, Jr., was made commander of Captain Patton's Company July 20, 1836 and continued as such until the company was disbanded. On June 21, 1856 he prepared a list of the names of all of the men who had served in Captain Patton's Company before and after the Battle of San Jacinto. After making an affidavit that the roll was correct Colonel Benton sent it to Governor E.M. Pease who on September 10, 1856 sent it to the General Land Office, where it is now on pages 232 and 233 of the army rolls. Mr. Wilcox was issued Donation Certificate No. 595 for 640 acres of land July 22, 1854 for having participated in the Battle of San Jacinto. He received Bounty Certificate No. 158 for 960 acres of land for serving in the army from March 1 to December 1, 1836. He is shown on a muster roll at the General Land Office as having enlisted in Captain Benjamin F. Reavill's Company July 1, 1836, and as having enlisted in Captain William D. Burnett's Company October 1, 1836.

Mr. Wilcox died in Austin, Travis County, Texas, April 5, 1879. He is buried on the J. Cummin's lot in Oakwood Cemetery.

The original of the following affidavit signed by Mr. Wilcox September 23, 1870, is among the Pension Papers, Archives, Texas State Library: "Before me the undersigned authority this day came and personally appeared Ozwin Wilcox a citizen of the County of Travis who being by me duly sworn deposeth and Saith that: he was a soldier in the Army of the Old Republic of Texas in the Revolution which separated Texas from Mexico, that he joined said army on the 1st of March 1836 and served until the 1st December, 1836, and that during said term of service, the Battle of San Jacinto was fought in which he the said Wilcox participated; that for said services he received 960 acres Bounty Land, and for participating in said Battle he received 640 acres Donation Land, which will fully appear by reference to the Certificate of the General Land Commissioner hereunto attached--Marked Exhibit A, that he is the identical Ozwin Wilcox who performed the service above referred to, that he has resided continuously in the County of Travis for the space of 30 years, that he is now 60 years old, that he is entitled to a pension for services under the Pension Act approved August 13, 1870, and that he makes this affidavit for the purpose of receiving the necessary pension certificate."

The historian John Henry Brown shows Mr. Wilcox as a member of Captain James Gillaspie's Company who was among those detailed to guard the baggage at the camp opposite Harrisburg, April 21, 1836.
