WHITE, JOHN CAREY -- The records of the Texas Veterans Association for the year 1874 published on page 618 of D. W. C. Baker's A Texas Scrap Book show that Mr. White was born in Georgia in 1815. In Headright Certificate No. 116 issued to him in 1838 for one-third of a league of land by the Board of Land Commissioners for Liberty County it is stated that he came to Texas in 1835.

Mr. White was issued Bounty Certificate No. 6088 for 320 acres of land January 9, 1839 for having served in the army from December 15, 1835 to May 5, 1836. He was a member of Captain James Gillaspie's Company at San Jacinto and on January 9, 1836 he received Donation Certificate No. 738 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the battle.
Mr. White died in or near Navasota, Montgomery County, in 1893 while a member of the Texas Veterans Association.
