WEEDON, GEORGE -- Came to Texas in the fall of 1835, as is shown in Headright Certificate No. 142 issued to him for one-third of a league of land by the Washington County Board in 1838. He received Bounty Certificate No. 9083 for 320 acres of land for having served in the army April 19 to June 18, 1836. This he sold to J. McBride. He was a member of Captain William S. Fisher's Company of Velasco Blues at San Jacinto and on June 18, 1838 he was issued Donation Certificate No. 328 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the battle. The land was surveyed in what is now Walker County. On August 2, 1838 he received a league of land for having been permanently wounded in the battle of San Jacinto. This land was also surveyed in the present County of Walker.

Mr. Weedon is buried about one and one-half miles southwest of the site of the old town of Cincinnati, Walker County. His lone grave is on top of small hill which drains both East and West and drains into a rocky flat drain on the East. The grave was lost for years and was discovered in April 1838 by Mr. Wilbourn S. Gibbs in Huntsville, Texas.
On the small marker at the grave is the following inscription:
"George Weedon
A Hero of
San Jacinto
Departed This Life
January 18th, 1842."
Isaac Towsey was appointed administrator of Mr. Weedon's estate February 28, 1842.
