Mr. Walmsley came to Texas in 1834 as a member of the colony of Power and Heweston. He and his partner Charles Smith received title to a league of land October 30, 1834. (Spanish Archives, General Land Office)

Mr. Walmsley was a member of Captain Henry Teal's Company at San Jacinto and on February 1, 1839 was issued Donation Certificate No. 802 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the battle. Sometime after the battle the regular army was reorganized. On June 21, 1836 Nicholas Lynch was made Captain of Company C, First Regiment of the Regular Infantry. Robert D. McCaskey, Second Lieutenant of Captain Teal's Company at San Jacinto was made First Lieutenant. Many of the men of Captain Teal's San Jacinto Company were shown as members of Company C when the company was mustered at Victoria, June 30, 1836. Mr. Walmsley is shown listed as a member and is shown as having enlisted in the army April 10, 1836 for the duration of the war. (Page 133, Army rolls in the General Land Office). His name appears on the army rolls October 31, 1836 as still a member of Company C, and also on December 31, 1836, at which time Lieutenant McCaskey was in command.

On February 8, 1871 Bounty Certificate No. 16/257 for 320 acres of land was issued in the name of Mr. Walmsley, due him for having served in the army for a period of three months. He did not apply for a headright Certificate.

Mr. Walmsley was living in New Orleans May 25, 1850 when he sold his Donation Certificate to W. H. Cundiff for $200.
