Philip Stroh was issued Bounty Certificate No. 9888 for 320 acres of land _________ for having served in the army from March 2 to July 25, 1836. He received Donation Certificate No. 1179 for 640 acres of land November 29, 1841 for having participated in the battle of San Jacinto.
The compiler is convinced that Philip Stroth, Philip Straugh, Philip Stowe, and Philip Stroh were one and the same and that he served in Captain Wyly's Company at San Jacinto. He was probably transferred from Captain Baker's Company to the smaller organization.
A Mr. Philip Stroh died in Brazoria County in 1838, and John A. Hueser was appointed administrator of his estate June 25, 1838. This was probably the father of the San Jacinto veteran, for on January 15, 1845, Mr. Stroh of Brazoria County, but at that time in New Orleans, sold Bounty Certificate No. 9888 to Charles F. Fisher for $50.00.
The compiler has no information as to when Mr. Stroh came to Texas. He did not receive a Headright Certificate.
