STEWART, CHARLES -- Mr. Stewart, by agreement, sold his rights to the land he was entitled to receive to Aaron Burns at Houston October 7, 1837 before his bounty warrant was issued. When issued February 23, 1838 it was delivered to Mr. Burns. The copy of the agreement is given below and the original may be found in the files of the General Land Office.

Houston, October 7, 1837
These articles of Agreement made this seventh day of October A. D. 1837 between Charles Stewart of the first part and Aaron Burns of the second part. Witness that the said party of the first part Stewart for and in consideration of the sum one hundred and fifty dollars cash to him in hand paid by the said Burns the receipt whereof is hereby fully confessed and acknowledged by the said Charles Stewart has granted bargained and sold and by these presents he grants bargains and sells to him the said Burns all his right title interest and claims in and unto the lands he is entitled to for services rendered in the army of the Republic of Texas as a soldier as will fully appear by the discharge bearing date the seventh day of June last at Port of Galveston which is hereby annexed and the said discharge is hereby transferred to make (?) the property of him the said Burnes and I the said Charles Stewart hereby otherwise and impower him the said Burns to the officer of the land office and present the said discharge and have the land located and surveyed and procure a title to be made to himself in his own name for the said land and to do and perform all other acts that may be necessary and proper in order to procure said lands and to have and to hold the same for his own proper use benefit seen as fully as if the said discharge had been granted to him in his proper name.
