STANDIFER, JACOB LITTLETON--Born in Illinois, September 11, 1818. He came to Texas in 1829 as is shown in the Headright Certificate 23 issued to him January 19, 1838 by the Bastrop County Board of Land Commissioners for one-third of a league of land. The land was surveyed in Bastrop County. He was a member of Captain Jesse Billingsley's Company at San Jacinto and Donation Certificate No. 35, dated June 15, 1846, for 640 acres of land was issued to him for having participated in the battle. On June 27, 1838 he received Bounty Certificate No. 3951 for 320 acres of land for his services from February 28 to June 1, 1836.

Mr. Standifer was twice married. His first wife was before marriage Martha Eggleston. Their children were Jacob, James, John Benjamin and Calvin Standifer. At the death of his wife Mr. Standifer was married to Martha Childs.
Mr. Standifer died January 7, 1902 while a member of the Veterans Association. His grave in the cemetery in Elgin, Bastrop County, is marked. It has not been ascertained when his wife died.
Mrs. J. T. Litton, Austin, and Mrs. Herman Couser, Devine, Texas are descendants of Mr. Standifer.
