ROWE, JAMES -- Came to Texas in 1834, as is shown in Headright Certificate No. 158, issued to him February 1, 1838 for a league and labor of land by the Sabine County Board. The land was surveyed in Sabine County. He received Bounty Certificate No. 9826 for 320 acres of land July 6, 1841 for having served in the army from March 15 to June 15, 1836. He sold the certificate September 29, 1841 to H. W. Musick.

Mr. Rowe was First Lieutenant in Captain William Kimbro's Company at San Jacinto and Donation Certificate No. 90 for 640 acres of land was issued to him September 18, 1847, due him for having participated in the battle. He was living in Travis County, February 5, 1852 when he sold the certificate to A. Greer for $200. The deed records of Travis County do not show that he owned land in that County.
