ROBINSON, THOMAS JEFFERSON -- In Book B, Page 73 of the list of applicants for land in Austin's Colonies, it is shown that when Mr. Robinson applied for, but did not receive, land October 10, 1835, he stated that he was twenty-two years of age, single, and a blacksmith by trade. He stated that he had arrived in Texas from Alabama in February, 1835. In Headright Certificate No. 321, issued in the name of Thomas J. Robinson, deceased, and delivered to the administrator of his estate in 1838 by the Board of Land Commissioners of Montgomery County, for one-third of a league of land, it is stated that he came to Texas in the fall of 1834. The compiler accepts the date of February, 1835, as being correct.

Mr. Robinson was a member of Captain Isaac N. Moreland's Artillery Company at San Jacinto and his heirs, by an act of the Legislature, approved February 13, 1860 received Donation Certificate No. 85 for 640 acres of land due Mr. Robinson for having participated in the battle. The administrator of his estate received Bounty Certificate No. 2387 for 320 acres of land dated February 15, 1838 for Mr. Robinson's services in the army from March 30 to June 22, 1836, as a substitute for James Adams.

Mr. Robinson died in what is now Grimes County in 1837. Henry A. Fanthorp was appointed administrator of his estate, July 17, 1837, as is shown in the Probate Records of Washington County, Book A, Page 196. The present Grimes County was, at that time, in Washington County and later in Montgomery County. Henry Fanthorp, first administrator of Mr. Robinson's estate, lived in what is now the town of Anderson, Grimes County.
