ROBERTS, ZION -- Appeared before the Board of Land Commissioners of Sabine County on February 1, 1838 and was granted Headright Certificate No. 52 for a league and labor of land. He stated that he came to Texas in 1833, single, but had married in 1837. He called as witnesses Jeremiah Latham and Major Smith. The land was surveyed in Nacogdoches County in 1846.

In Service Record No. 5191, it is certified that Mr. Roberts served in Captain Benjamin F Bryant's Company of "Sabine Volunteers" from March 31 to May 2, 1836. He re-enlisted in the army and served until October 12, 1837. He was issued Donation Certificate No. 258 on January 17, 1851 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the Battle of San Jacinto. The land was surveyed in Anderson County in 1851.
