Mr. Pruitt was a brother of Martin Pruitt. He was married to Hannah Trenary, daughter of John B. Trenary. He was a member of Captain Hayden Arnold's Company. His Bounty Certificate, for service immediately prior to and after the Battle of San Jacinto, if issued is not to be found in the files of the General Land Office. He received Bounty Certificate No. 784 for 320 acres of land for serving in the army from May 9 to August 9, 1836.
On January 6, 1852 Mr. Pruitt was issued Donation Certificate No. 407 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the battle of San Jacinto. He was living in Navarro County at that time and sold his certificate to George Barnard for $100.00. He could not write. He affixed his mark to the deed of transfer.
