PEARCE, WILLIAM J.C.--Emigrated to Texas in 1835. This is shown in the Headright Certificate issued to him March 16, 1838 for one-third of a league of land by the Fort Bend County Board. He was living in Washington County February 22, 1848 when he appointed Walter Winn as his agent. He was issued Bounty Certificate No. 4002 for 640 acres of land for serving in the army from September 28, 1835 to July 25, 1836. He was issued Donation Certificate No. 415 for 640 acres of land February 10, 1852 for having participated in the Battle of San Jacinto. He was living in Grimes County August 13, 1852 when he sold the certificate to William Hays for $150.00.

Mr. Pearce was a member of Captain Henry W. Karnes' Company.
