Mr. Navarro died April 3, 1877 at San Antonio while a member of the Texas Veterans Association.

On May 9, 1860, Mr. Navarro applied for the additional land due him for his services in the army of Texas. His original application is in the files of the Court of Claims, General land Office, Austin. The following is a copy of it:

"Your petitioner Juan Nepomuceno Navarro, a native and resident citizen of Bexar County, would respectfully represent unto your Honor that he was in the military service of Texas from about the middle of the month of January, 1836, when he enlisted in the troops raised by Dr. James Grant and entered the company commanded by Captain Leandro Arriola, with which he started from San Antonio de Bexar, that petitioner being out of camp on a Scout, when the little expedition was surprised and destroyed, he had the good fortune of escaping the general destruction and joined without any delay the main Army of Texas that was gathered at Gonzales, where he entered the company of Texas Mounted Volunteers commanded by J. N. Seguin; petitioner was a member of said Company at the battle of San Jacinto and continued in said service up to the organization of. the Regiment of Regulars by the then Lt. Colonel J. N. Seguin, which took place in the month of October, 1836; Petitioner entered the regular army in the Company of Capt. Don Manuel Flores, and served in it up to the month of April, 1838, When he was honorably discharged."

Captain Don Manuel Flores, in whose company Mr. Navarro served, in his deposition of August 4, 1860, said that he had known Mr. Navarro from his birth. He said he was born on Flores Street in San Antonio and was in 1860 living at San Jose Mission.

Eduardo Hernandez said he formerly lived with Mr. Navarro's uncle El. Governador Don Juan Martin Veramendi. He stated that Mr. Navarro was first discharged from the army November 1, 1836, but immediately rejoined it.
