MIXON, NOEL -- The compiler, by oversight, is responsible for Mr. Mixon's name being omitted from the bronze plaque in the San Jacinto Memorial Monument on which are listed the names of the men who participated in the Battle of San Jacinto.

Mr. Mixon's name is listed on page nine (9) of the San Jacinto rolls printed in 1836 and on page thirty (30) of the army rolls in the General Land Office, Austin, as N. NIXON, a member of Captain Henry Karnes' Company of Cavalry.
Mr. Mixon received title to a league of land in Milam Colony situated in what is now Blanco County, July 23, 1835. In the Headright Certificate issued to him January 30, 1838 for one labor of land by the Board of Land Commissioners for Austin County it is certified that he came to Texas in April, 1835. On June 2, 1838 he received Donation Certificate No. 267 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the battle of San Jacinto. On September 4, 1855 Bounty Certificate No. 2072 for 320 acres of land was issued in Mr. Mixon's name, but delivered to his heirs, for his services in the army from February 2 to June 1, 1836.
Mr. Mixon had been a member of Captain Jesse Billingsley's company. On page 228 of the army rolls in the General Land Office there is an affidavit signed by Captain Billingsley December 22, 1855 in which he states that Mr. Mixon and Thomas S. McGehee were absent on furlough to attend to their families, and only reached the battleground on their return the day after the battle. It appears, however, that Mr. Mixon did participate in the battle as a member of Captain Karnes' Company.
The deed records of Harris county show Mr. Mixon residing in the county as late as October 10, 185O.
