McCOY, JOHN -- Arrived in Texas in 1835, as is shown in the Headright Certificate issued to him March 29, 1838 for one-third of a league of land by the Houston County Board. The certificate had been assigned to M. Huling. He was a member of Captain Hayden Arnold's NACOGDOCHES COMPANY at San Jacinto but did not apply for the land due him for his services in the army; he is shown on a muster roll at the General Land Office as having enlisted in Captain Arnold's Company March 6, 1836.
