MAYS, AMBROSE -- Listed on page 17 of the San Jacinto rolls printed in 1836 as AMBROSE MAYER, a member of Captain Thomas H. McIntire's Company. Bounty Certificate No. 3786 for 320 acres of land was issued in the name of A. MAYS June 9, 1838, due him for having served in the army from March 20 to July 20, 1836. The rights to the certificate had been assigned by Mr. Mays before it was issued.

In the Headright Certificate issued to AMBROSE MAYS April 8,1838 by the Board of Land Commissioners for Harrisburg County for a league and labor of land it is certified that he came to Texas in 1831. He did not apply for the 640 acres of donation land due him for having participated in the battle of San Jacinto.
The probate Records of Harris County, Book A, page 91, show that Mr. AMBROSE MAYS died in 1852. John Singleton was appointed administrator of his estate.
