MASON, GEORGE W. -- Listed on page 25 of the army rolls in the General Land Office as George Mason, a member of Captain Thomas H. Breece's Company in 1835 and has having been born in England. On page 11 of the San Jacinto rolls printed in 1836 George W. Mason is listed as a member of Captain William S. Fisher's Company of Velasco Blues. He evidently joined Captain Henry Teal's Company of Regulars after the battle. On page 144 of the army rolls in the General Land Office George Mason is shown as a member of Captain Teal's Company August 31, 1836 and as having enlisted in the army February 14, 1836. On page 149 he is shown as a member of Captain Jacob Snively's Company, October 31, 1836 and on page 173 as a member of Captain Snively's Company December 31, 1836, but at that time on detached service on Matagorda Bay.

GEORGE MASON was issued Bounty Certificate No. 3661 for 320 acres of land for having served in the army from October 17, 1835 to January 15, 1836. He was living in Harrisburg County July 18, 1838 when he sold the certificate to William F. Nelson for one hundred dollars. On June 2, 1838 he was issued Donation Certificate No. 265 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the Storming and Capture of Bexar (San Antonio), December 5 to 10, 1835. The land was surveyed in Montgomery County. On January 18, 1838 George Mason was issued Bounty Certificate No. 1939 for 1280 acres of land for his services from February 14, 1836 to October 21, 1837. The land was surveyed in Montgomery County. In the Headright Certificate issued to GEORGE MASON February 8, 1838 for one-third of a league of land by the Board of Land Commissioners for Harrisburg County it is stated that he came to Texas in 1835. The land was surveyed in Montgomery County.
GEORGE W. MASON--was a Probate Judge of Montgomery County in 1846. The Deed Records of Montgomery show that a GEORGE. W. MASON was living in Jefferson County, Ohio April 16, 1849 when he sold a lot in the town of Montgomery, Montgomery County, Texas.

George Mason died in N.O. of yellow fever in 1838. Born Nov. 4, 1814 in Georgetown, D. C. and moved with his parents to Knoxville, Tennessee when a child. Then moved to Alabama. George Mason's sisters, Mary Mason married a Mr. Blanton, son of John Mason.
