Velasco 6th June 1836

Know all men by these present that Achelle Marre, private in Company A 1st Regiment William Woods Capt. enrolled himself on the 30th Jan. 1836 for during the War between Mexico and Texas and he is hereby honorably discharged from the same having served faithfully during the War but more especially on the ever memorible 21st April on the plains of San Jacinto he being one among the few who took the cannon the Golden Standard and Santa Anna's person.

For value reserved I transfer all my right title and interest which I have to the within Three hundred and twenty acres of Land as well as all lands and emoluments which may be allowed persons of this description appoint to select locate survey and perfact title to said land in his own name or in my name if required by law at his own expense and according to Law this power and transfer is irrevocable from and after date. Done at Houston the 3 day of July 1837 in presence of Ach. Marr, J. W. Moody, J. Kettera Graham

For value received I transfer all my right title and interest of the within certificate to Anthy O'Donnell his heirs or assigns as fully as it is conveyed to me with all the powers and priviledges which I have by virtue of the above transfer and irrevocable in like manner done at Houston the 10th day of July 1837 in presence of his

In a statement of transfer made in "The Republic of Texas" he stated that he was discharged June 6, 1836 and that his certificate of discharge was signed by Captain William Wood, Commander of the Post of Velasco and countersigned by Jacob Snively, Secretary of War. Mr. Cerahar sold the certificate to Anthony O'Donnell and on April 12, 1838, Bernard B. Bee, Secretary of War issued Bounty Certificate No. 2792 for 320 acres of land to A. O'Donnell. In Service Record No. 2158 it is stated that Mr. Marre served in the army from July 28, 1836 to July 28, 1837. Mr. Marre probably left Texas shortly after September 25, 1837. On that date at Nacogdoches he sold his rights to land he was entitled to receive as a headright to Charles Chevallier.

Following is a copy of Headright Certificate No, 455 issued March 22,1838 by the Board of Land Commissioners of Nacogdoches County: "Charles Chevallier assignee of Achelle Marre has appeared before the Board of Land Commissioners for the County of Nacogdoches and proved according to law that the said Achelle Marre arrived in this Republic January A. D. Eighteen hundred and thirty six and that he is a single man.

And entitled to one third of a league of land, upon the condition of paying at the rate of seven dollars for each labor of irrigable land, five dollars for each labor of temporal or arable land and two dollars and forty cents for each labor of pasture land which may be contained in the survey secured to him by this certificate. Re-enlisted July 28, 1836 for the duration of the war. A member of Lt. Dugald McFarlane's Company at muster Dec 31, 1836. Court of Claims Heirs Nov 27, 1860 applied to Court of Claims through an attorney for his bounty and donation lands. Names and addresses of heirs not shown. No evidence given. All Bounties
