MALONE, CHARLES -- Born in Pennsylvania. On page 82O, Vol. 1, Gammel's Laws of Texas it is shown that on December 20, 1835 he signed the Goliad Declaration Of Independence. He was a member of Captain Philip Dimitt's Company in 1835 and at Captain Robert J. Calder's Brazoria Company at San Jacinto. After the revolution he presented no claim for the land due him as a homestead or for his services in the army.

On page 68 of the army rolls in the General Land Office, Mr. Malone is shown as having enlisted in Captain John Chenoweth's Company, December 27, 1835. His name appears on the soldier's memorial drafted at Refugio on about February 4, 1836.
Miss Harriet Smither, Austin, on January 17, 1934 wrote to the compiler: "Mr. R. James Malone, 919 North 77th Street, Seattle, Washington and a nephew of Mr. Malone, a San Jacinto soldier, was in the library yesterday. He gave me the following account of Charles Malone which has come down in the family: Charles Malone, son of Charles Malone and Isabella Daughenty Malone was born in Pennsylvania. On his mother's side he was a descendant of Patrick Cassidy, the founder of the town of Newry, Pennsylvania. He was unmarried and a soldier of fortune. He went to Texas in 1834, and died in Galveston."
