LYNCH, NICHOLAS -- Came to Texas in 1834, as is stated in the Headright Certificate issued him January 7, 1838, by the Liberty County Board for one-third of a league of land. He was Adjutant of the regular infantry at San Jacinto, and on May 14, 1838 was issued Donation Certificate No. 12 for 640 acres for having participated in the battle. On June 20, 1838 he received Bounty Certificate No. 3896 for 1280 acres of land for having served in the army from April 10 to June 12, 1837. On June 21, 1836 he was promoted to Captain of Company C, First Regiment of Regular Infantry in Lt. Col. Henry Millard's regiment. His company was stationed near Victoria, June 30, 1836. In 1837 he was promoted to the rank of Lt. Colonel, the Senate confirming the appointment May 22, 1837.

The Probate Records of Liberty County show that Colonel Lynch died in 1851. Michael Murphy was appointed administrator of his estate April 10, 1851. Mrs. Eliza Lynch, mother of Nicholas Lynch, having given Mr. Murphy Power of Attorney to act as her agent.
