LINDSAY, BENJAMIN FRANKLIN JR. -- Born in Tennessee, a son of Benjamin F. Lindsay. In the Headright Certificate issued to him June 22, 1838 for one-third of a league of land by the San Augustine County Board it is stated that he came to Texas in 1834. In the Spanish Archives of the General Land Office, Austin, it is recorded that Benjamin F. Lindsay,Sr. came to Texas from Tennessee in 1832 with his wife and nine children. Mr. Lindsay was a member of Captain Benjamin F. Bryant's Company at San Jacinto and on June 13, 1855 was issued Donation Certificate No. 703 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the battle. In Service Record No. 5222 it is certified that he served in the army from March 27 to April 29, 1836. For this service he was on February 15, 1858 issued a Bounty Certificate for 320 acres of land. He was living in Hunt County June 24, 1858, when he sold the certificate to M. H. Wright for $150.00. He could not write. Mr. Lindsay was living in Hunt County September 21, 1881, when he sold his Veterans Donation Certificate for 1280 acres of land to R. Garcia.
