LEMSKY, FREDERICK -- Born in Germany. In the Headright Certificate issued to him in 1838 by the Harrisburg County Board for one-third of a league of land it is stated that he came to Texas in February, 1836. In Service Record No. 273 it is stated that Mr. Lemsky was a musician in Captain Henry Teal's Company at San Jacinto. He was issued Bounty Certificate No. 141 for 960 acres of land November 1, 1859 for having served in the army from February 23 to December 26, 1836. The Land Office records do not show that he applied for the land due him for having participated in the Battle of San Jacinto.

After receiving his discharge from the army, Lemsky made his home in Houston. He was one of the Charter members of "The German Union of Texas" that granted a charter by the Republic, January 21, 1841. In March 1842 he had thirty men employed in digging the Brazos and San Luis Canal. The Deed Records of Harris County show him living in Houston as late as May 1, 1856 when he sold a tract of land to W. R. Baker.
