BEACHUM, JOHN -- Listed on page 13 of the San Jacinto rolls printed in 1836 as John Beachom, a member or Captain Moseley Baker's San Felipe Company. On page 34 of the San Jacinto rolls in the General Land Office the name appears as John Beachom.

Bounty Certificate No. 4457 for 320 acres of land was issued in the name of John Beachum, November 26, 1838, due him for having served in the army from March 1 to June 1, 1836. The rights to the certificate had been assigned to Jesse Dickinson. No other land certificate was issued in the name of John Beachum and none were issued to John Beachom or John Beachorn.

The compiler believes, but has been unable to prove, that it was John Beauchamp who participated in the Battle of San Jacinto.

Written by Louis W. Kemp, between 1930 and 1952. Please note that typographical and factual errors have not been corrected from the original sketches. The biographies have been scanned from the original typescripts, a process that sometimes allows for mistakes in the new text. Researchers should verify the accuracy of the texts' contents through other sources before quoting in publications. Additional information on the veteran may be available in the Herzstein Library.
