KENKENNON, WILLIAM P. -- Shown in the Headright certificate for a league and labor of land issued by the Harrisburg County Board February 3, 1838, as having arrived in Texas February 4, 1836. He is listed on the muster roll of Captain Hayden Arnold's San Jacinto Company in the General Land Office as having enlisted in Captain Arnold's company March 6, 1836. The Bounty Certificate for his services in the army immediately prior to and subsequent to the battle are not to be found in the Land Office files. He received Bounty Certificate No. 216 for 320 acres of land, dated April 29, 1847, for his services from June 17 to September 17, 1836. The land was surveyed in Wood County in 1847. On June 21, 1838 he was issued Donation Certificate No. 349 for 640 acres of land June 21, 1838 for having participated in the battle of San Jacinto. The land was surveyed in Hill County in 1848.

On the back of Mr. Kenkennon's Headright certificate is an endorsement by him transferring the rights of the certificate to James P. Kenkennon, March 19, 1839. He spelled his name Kenkennon. Below his endorsement is the endorsement of James P. Kenkennon made December 7, 1840 transferring the certificate back to William P. Kenkennon. The land was surveyed in Navarro County in 1849.
