JAMES, DENWARD -- Arrived in Texas before May 2, 1835, as is stated in the Headright Certificate issued to him July 12, 1838, for one-third of a league of land by the Brazoria County Board of Land Commissioners. He was a member of Captain William S. Fisher's Company at San Jacinto, but did not apply for the donation land due him for having participated in the battle. Bounty Certificate No. 2009 for 320 acres of land was issued in his name on January 23, 1838, for 320 acres of land due him for having served in the army from March 10 to June 10, 1836. The certificate had been assigned.
