HOLDER, PRIOR -- Came to Texas in 1833, as is stated in the Headright Certificate issued to his heirs February 3, 1838, for a league and labor of land by the Bastrop County Board. He was a member of Captain Jesse Billingsley's Company of "Mina (Bastrop) Volunteers" at San Jacinto and on December 13, 1848, his heirs received Donation Certificate No. 138 for 640 acres of land due him for having participated in the battle. The heirs on May 15, 1839, were issued Bounty Certificate 9135 for 320 acres of land for Mr. Holder's services in the army from February 29 to June 1, 1836.

In the Probate Records of Bastrop County it is stated that Mr. Holder died in that County in 1837, survived by two minor children, William and Martha J. Holder. Thomas H. Mays was appointed administrator of his estate December 26, 1837.
