GILL, WILLIAM -- Arrived in Texas some time between May 2 and March 2, 1836. In the Headright Certificate issued to him January 25, 1838, for one-third of a league of land by the Brazoria County Board, it is stated that he came to Texas before March 2, 1836. Had he arrived before to May 2, 1835, it would have been in the certificate.

Mr. Gill was a member of Captain William S. Fisher's Company of "Velasco Blues" at San Jacinto. On November 2, 1838, he was issued Donation Certificate No. 580 for 640 acres of land for his participation in the battle. He received Bounty Certificate No. 3211 for 640 acres of land for having served in the army from April 16, to September 26, 1836.
The Marriage Records of Brazoria County show that Mr. Gill was married in that county August 13, 1838 to Sarah Woodruff.
The land received on Mr. Gill's Donation Certificate No. 580 was surveyed in Karnes County in 1839.
