Mr. Gentry was married to Rebecca P. Barnett, daughter of Dr. George W. Barnett, a signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence, in Washington County, November 23, 1840. Mr. and Mrs. Gentry moved to Hamilton County, Texas, in 1856. There Mr. Gentry died April 18, 1897, while a member of the Texas Veterans Association. Mrs. Gentry died March 13, 1905.

Children of Mr. and Mrs. Gentry, all of whom are dead, were (1) Elizabeth Augusta, married A.P. Shockley and lived in Hamilton, Texas, their children were Ollie, married A.H. Moore; Ora, died in childhood; George Augustin, married Maud Durham and lived in Santa Anna, Tx; Alice married O. Cathey, and lived in Hamilton, TX.; Frederick Eugene Shockley, married Elizabeth Crews and lived in Cisco, TX;(2) George Nicholas, was married 3 times, first to Clementine Snow, children were Frederick never married, Stroud was married to a Miss Stidham and lived in Pecos, and Mamie died in infancy. After her death he married Sarah Day, children were Ora, married H.L. Taylor and lived in Hamilton, Tx., Los Gentry died unmarried. After her death George Gentry married Miss Rowena Ewing and they lived in Polytechnic, Texas and (3) Emily Elisa Gentry, married F.M. Graves, their children were: Frederick Browder Graves died unmarried; William S. married Etta Perry and lived in Hamilton, Texas, Mollie Graves married J.E. Secreast and lived in Hamilton, James Rice died unmarried, Frances Graves married W.J. Murphy and lived in Burlingame, California, Vivian Graves was married to J.E. Moore and lived in Hamilton, Texas.
