GALLATIN, ALBERT--Born in Lexington, Kentucky in 1809. In the Headright Certificate issued to him February 19, 1838 for a league and labor of land it is stated that he came to Texas in November, 1833. He was a member of Captain John Crane's Company at the Storming and Capture of Bexar, December 5 to 10, 1835. On March 17, 1847 he was issued Bounty Certificate No. 236 for 320 acres of land for having served in the army from November 1, 1835 to February 1, 1836. He was slightly wounded at San Jacinto while serving in Captain William Ware's Company and on July 31, 1841 was issued Donation Certificate No. 1158 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the battle. On June 13, 1853 he received Bounty Certificate No. 2016 for 320 acres of land for having served in the army from March 12 to June 12, 1836

. Captain Gallatin commanded a company in Colonel Edwin Morehouse's regiment in January, 1841 in an expedition against Indians along the Brazos River.
The Marriage Records of Washington County show that Captain Gallatin and Sarah Louise Jones were married November 23, 1837. Captain Gallatin died November 16, 1898, while a member of the Texas Veterans Association, and is buried in a marked grave in the Bickham Cemetery nineteen miles north of Bryan, Brazos County. Mrs. Gallatin was born in Alabama, November 20, 1818, and died January 29, 1889. She is buried in an unmarked grave in the cemetery at Hico, Hamilton County. Children of Captain and Mrs. Gallatin, in order of birth were: Samuel, who never married; Fitchel, who married Sarah Leverett; Milam who never married; William, who married Annie Heffer; James, who married Jennie Thomas; Thomas who married Lela Koonts; and Eliza Louise Gallatin, who married L.T. Dillshaw.
Some of the grandchildren of Captain and Mrs. Albert Gallatin are Mrs. J.H. White, who lived in Orange; Mrs. A.B. Sandifer, lived in Alpine; Mrs. Lovie Rowland, lived in Waco; Mrs. Sallie Henderson,lived in Houston; Mr. Albert Gallatin, lived in Ida Lou, Texas; Lester Gallatin, also lived in Houston; D. Frank Gallatin, lived in Wharton; Mrs. Lucille Worsham, lived in Houston; and Albert Gallatin, also lived in Houston.
