FORBES, GEORGE WASHINGTON -- Name not found on the official San Jacinto rolls as printed in 1836, nor on the rolls in the general Land Office of those left at the camp opposite Harrisburg. He was issued Donation Certificate No. 420 for 640 acres of land February 17, 1852, for having participated in the battle of San Jacinto. The name of the company in which he served and the period of enlistment have not been found of record.

The Probate Records of Anderson County show that Mr. Forbes died in that county in 1850. His widow, Mrs. Rhoda Forbes, was appointed administratrix of his estate.
