FLOYD, JOSEPH -- Came to Texas in January 1836, as is shown in the Headright Certificate issued to him June 7, 1838, for one-third of a league of land by the Washington County Board. He was attached to Captain Isaac N. Moreland's Company of Artillery at San Jacinto and on June 2, 1838, was issued Donation Certificate No. 264 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the battle. On June 1, 1838, he received Bounty Certificate No. 3657 for 320 acres of land for having served in the army from March 7 to June 7, 1836.

Mr. Floyd was living in Panola County January 4, 1853, when he sold his Headright Certificate to Joseph Walker.

The biographies have been scanned from the original typescripts, a process that sometimes allows for mistakes in the new text. Researchers should verify the accuracy of the texts' contents through other sources before quoting in publications. Additional information on the veteran may be available in the Herzstein Library.
