FLORES, MANUEL MARIA -- Name omitted from the San Jacinto rolls printed in 1836 and from the San Jacinto rolls in the General Land Office. Through error of the compiler his name was placed on the bronze plaque in the memorial on the San Jacinto battlefield on which are inscribed the names of those who participated in the battle of San Jacinto. He now (March 28, 1941) is of the opinion that the name should be removed.

Mr. Flores was born in Texas in 1808, as is shown in Headright Certificate No. ____ issued to him February 19, 1838, for one-third of a league of land. He was a member of Captain Juan N. Seguin's company in 1835 and on July 31, 1854, was issued Donation Certificate No. 603 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the Storming and Capture of Bexar December 5 to 10, 1835. On July 31, 1854 he received Bounty Certificate No. 1672 for 320 acres of land for having served in the army from November 3 to December 25, 1835. In Comptroller's Military Service Record No. 6790 it is certified that he served in Captain Seguin's company from January 15 to June 10, 1836. On an army roll at the General Land Office he is shown as having enlisted in Company B of Lieutenant Colonel Juan N. Seguin's regiment, June 10, 1836. On February 22, 1838, he was issued Bounty Certificate No. 2431 for 1280 acres of land for having served in the army from June 4, 1836 to February 22, 1838.
Mr. Flores died in Bexar county prior to June 3, 1856, at which time E. Flores, his only surviving heir owned 82 acres of the land granted to Mr. Flores on Bounty Certificate No. 1672.
