EYLER, JACOB -- Enlisted in Captain Sidney Sherman's Company of "Kentucky Rifles" at Newport, Kentucky, December 18, 1835 and arrived in Texas in January, 1836. He was a member of Captain William Wood's Company at San Jacinto but did not receive the land due him for having participated in the battle. He was issued Bounty Certificate No. 7515 for 640 acres of land, June 4, 1840 for having served in the army from December 18, 1835 to June 18, 1836. On January 28, 1852 he was issued Bounty Certificate No. 1014 for 320 acres for his services from June 26 to September 26, 1836. The Certificate was assigned to Samuel A. Maverick.

On May 9, 1838 Mr. Eyler, living in New Orleans, applied for a Headright Certificate through his attorney William G. Cooke. A certificate for one-third of a league of land was issued by the Fayette County Board, January 13, 1840. It was assigned to S. L. Beelman.
Mr. Eyler was alive as late as April 21, 1858 when he applied through an attorney for the 640 acres of land due him for having participated in the battle of San Jacinto. His petition is among the files of the Court of Claims, General Land Office. The claim was not followed up since no certificate was issued to him. His place of residence was not shown by his attorney in his petition.
