ELLIOTT, PETER S. -- Member of Captain Henry Teal's company of regulars at San Jacinto. He was issued Bounty Certificate No. 3013 for 1280 acres of land for having served in the army from February 23, 1836 to May 22, 1837. He assigned his rights to the certificate and it was issued to Handy and Lusk, April 24, 1838.

Mr. Elliott did not apply for headright or donation lands. He was entitled to receive a Donation Certificate for 640 acres of land for having participated in the battle of San Jacinto. The fact that he did not apply for his certificate is an indication, at least, that he did not remain long in Texas. He could sell bounty or Headright Certificates but Donation Certificates were non-transferable.
