DALRYMPLE, JOHN -- Arrived at Velasco, January 28, 1836 on the schooner Pennsylvania, having been recruited in New Orleans for the army of Texas by Captain Amasa Turner. In the Headright Certificate issued to him February 1. 1838 by the Harrisburg County Board for one-third of a league of land it is stated that he came to Texas in January, 1836. He was a member of Captain Turner's Company at San Jacinto and on May 15, 1838 he was issued Donation Certificate No. 75 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the battle. This was lost and a duplicate, No. 160, was issued May 22, 1849. He received Bounty Certificate No. 390 for 1280 acres of land November 17, 1837, for having served in the army from February 13, 1836 to October 21, 1837. This he sold at Houston, his home, on October 28, 1837 to George Fisher for $100.00.

Mr. Dalrymple was among those captured by General Adrian in his sudden raid upon San Antonio September 11, 1842, and was imprisoned in Castle Perote in Mexico. He escaped July 2, 1843 and returned to Texas. He was living in New Orleans June 21, 1849 when he sold Donation Certificate No. 160 to George I. Durham for $60.00.
In the Pension Papers, Archives Texas State Library in a statement signed May 25, 1874 by James L. Trueheart and Andrew Neill that Mr. Dalrymple died in Fayette County, Texas but they did not give the date of his death.
