CURBIERE, MATHIAS -- Born in Bexar, Texas, in 1814 as is stated in the Headright Certificate issued to him in 1838 for a league and labor of land. He was a member of Captain Juan N. Seguin's Company in 1835 and on November 20, 1851 he was issued Donation Certificate No. 387 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the Storming and Capture of Bexar, December 5 to 10, 1835. This he sold March 26, 1852 to John James for $50.00. He received Bounty Certificate No. 1096 for 640 acres of land, April 21, 1851 for having served in the army from February 22 to July 15, 1836. He was a member of Captain Seguin's Company at San Jacinto. On a roll at the General Land Office he is shown as having enlisted as Third Sergeant in Lieutenant Manuel Flores Company, November 5, 1836. On January 8, 1839 he was issued Bounty Certificate No. 6086 for 640 acres of land for having served in the army from November 5, 1836 to February 20, 1838. Mr. Curbiere could not write.

Mr. Curbiere was married at San Antonio November 11, 1837 to Irudella Garza. He was a member of the Texas Veterans Association and died in San Antonio in 1877.
