CRAFT, RUSSELL B. -- Came to Texas in 1835, as is stated in the Headright Certificate issued to him February 1, 1838, for one-third of a league of land by the Bastrop County Board. He was a brother of James A. Craft. He was a member of Captain Jesse Billingsley's Company of "Mina (Bastrop) Volunteers" and on May 21, 1830, was issued Donation Certificate No. 128 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the battle of San Jacinto. On January 25, 1838, he received Bounty Certificate No. 2076 for 320 acres of land for having served in the army from February 23 to June 1, 1836. In Service Record No. 3180 it is certified that he served as First Sergeant in Captain John G. McGehee's Ranging Company from July 1 to November 1, 1836. For this service he was issued Bounty Certificate No. 2077 on January 25, 1838, for 320 acres of land.

Mr. Craft was Postmaster at Mt. Pleasant, Bastrop County in 1843.
The Probate Records of Bastrop County show that Mr. Craft died in that county in 1845. John S. and James A. Craft were appointed administrators of his estate December 22, 1845.
