COOPER, MATHIAS -- Killed in the battle of San Jacinto while serving in Captain Thomas H. McIntire's Company. Charles Cooper, his father, was issued a Donation Certificate for 640 acres of land, February 13, 1853, due Mathias Cooper for having participated in the battle of San Jacinto and Bounty Certificate No. 1366 for 320 acres of land for his services in the army for three months, dates of enlistment and discharge not shown.

The following is a part of a deed found in Book G2, page 130, Deed Records of Bexar County: "Your petitioner Charles Cooper of the County of Macon and State of Illinois represents that your petitioner is informed and believes that Mathias Cooper, who was the son of your petitioner left Natchez, Mississippi, some time before the battle of San Jacinto and joined the Texian army and was killed in the battle of San Jacinto."
Mr. Charles Cooper was living in Campbell County, Kentucky, March 13, 1854, when he sold Bounty Certificate No. 1366 to John D. McLeod.
