CAMPBELL, JOSEPH -- Came to Texas before May 2, 1835 as is stated in the Headright Certificate issued to him by the Brazoria County Board of Land Commissioners January 25, 1838 for one-third or a league of land. On May 27, 1839 he was issued Donation Certificate No. 902 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the Storming and Capture of Bexar, December 5 to 10, 1835. He was a member of Captain Thomas H. McIntire's Company at San Jacinto but having received one Donation Certificate he was not entitled to one for having participated in the battle. On August 30, 1839 he was issued Bounty Certificate No. 9264 for 320 acres of land for having served in the army from March 18 to June 18, 1836. The land was surveyed in the Bexar Land District, in what is now Atascosa County, in 1858.
