CADDELL, ANDREW -- Born in North Carolina in 1795 and moved early in life with his parents to Tuscaloosa, Alabama. There in 1818 was married to Rhoda Doty. In Headright Certificate No. 423 issued to Mr. Cadell for one labor of land by the Board of Land Commissioners of San Augustine County, March 1, 1838 it is stated that he came to Texas in 1834. On April 14, 1834 he had received title to a league of land in Zavala's Colony situated in the present county of San Augustine.

Mr. Caddell was a member of Captain William Kimbro's San Augustine Company at San Jacinto and on January 31, 1840 he was issued Donation Certificate No. 1009 for 640 acres of land for having served in the battle. On January 31, 1840, he received Bounty Certificate No. 9445 for 320 acres of land for having served in the army from March 15 to June 15, 1836. He later commanded, as captain, a company of volunteers raised in San Augustine County.
Shortly after the revolution Captain Caddell moved to Nacogdoches. He served as Tax Assessor and collector of Nacogdoches County from 1846 to 1854. He moved to Bell County in 1867 and settled on a farm near Belton. He died in October 1869. Mrs. Caddell was born in 1801 and died in 188O. The two are buried in the Three Forks Cemetery about three miles southeast of Belton, Bell County.

died without heirs; Jeremiah D. Caddell who was killed in the
siege of Petersburg, Virginia, while serving in the Confederate
army; William J. Caddell, who was twice married, his second wife
before marriage being Sarah McDonald; Andrew B. Caddell, who was
married to Susan Sparks; Anthony B. Caddell, who was twice
married; Newton Caddell, who left no heirs; Joseph D. Caddell,
who was married to Sarah Milton; Robert Caddell, who married a
Miss Acrey; Martha Caddell, who married William Sparks; Sarah
Caddell, who married William Acrey; and Richard M. Cadell, who married Sarah Elliot.
