WILLIAMS, JESSE - Volunteered June 20, 1832 for military service in Austin’s Colony; Captain John Austin’s Company, battle of Velasco; Captain Peyton R. Splane’s Company in 1835; left with the sick at camp opposite Harrisburg and did not participate in the battle of San Jacinto. He was issued Bounty Certificate No. 9115 for 320 acres of land May 13, 1839 for having served in the army from March 13 to June 13, 1836. The certificate had been assigned to Charles Leonard of Brazoria County.

Mr. Williams was issued a headright certificate for two-thirds of a league and one labor of land by the Brazoria County Board of Land Commissioners, March 1, 1838. In the certificate it is stated that he arrived in Texas before May 2, 1835. He was living in Brazoria County June 25, 1838 when he sold the certificate to Hiram Riggs. He could sign his name.
