ROWLETT, A. W. - Was a member of Captain Peyton R. Splane’s company. On October 14, 1854 he was issued Donation Certificate No. 630 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the battle of San Jacinto. Many soldiers who were detailed to guard the camp opposite Harrisburg, April 21, 1836 received land for having participated in the battle. Mr. Rowlett’s name does not appear on the official San Jacinto rolls printed in 1836. It does appear on the roll in the General Land Office, Austin of those detailed to guard the baggage.

County Certificate No. 3869 for 320 acres of land was issued June 16, 1838 in the name of Mr. Rowlett’s name for his services in the army from March 5 to June 5, 1836. The certificate had been assigned to W. A. Elliott.
Mr. Rowlett was living in Travis County, December 6, 1854, when he sold his donation certificate.
