PERRY, WILLIAM M. - The compiler is responsible for Mr. Perry’s name being omitted from the bronze plaque in the San Jacinto memorial monument on which are inscribed the names of the Texans who were detailed to guard the baggage at the camp opposite Harrisburg, April 21, 1836. It should be added to the list.

Mr. Perry’s name is shown on page 42 of the army rolls in the General Land Office as one of the members of Captain Gibson Kuykendall’s company who was detailed to guard the baggage at the camp opposite Harrisburg, April 21, 1836. He did not apply for a donation certificate. On May 24, 1838 he was issued Bounty Certificate No. 3544 for 320 acres of land for having served in the army from March 1 to June 1, 1836.
In Headright Certificate No. 37 for one league and one labor of land issued to Mr. Perry in 1838 by the Board of Land Commissioners for Austin county it is stated that he came to Texas before May 2, 1835.
