PENNINGTON, J. J. - Listed on page 42 of the army rolls in the General Land Office as one of the members of Captain Joseph B. Chance’s company who was detailed to guard the baggage at the camp opposite Harrisburg, April 21, 1836. The Land Office records do not show that he received bounty land for his services prior to April 21, 1836 or donation land. He was issued Bounty certificate No. 168 for 320 acres of land December 25, 1846 for his services in the army from July 3 to October 3, 1836. The land was surveyed in Hill county.
